I want to taste the life of former Mayans, spend a couple of days in a jungle bungalow, but with good conditions inside...Any chance in Orangewalk?(give a different answer) .
Yes.The Chan Chich lodge (125$ a double) has some wooden pavilions, resembling Mayan homes, with thatched roofs and a nice veranda at front. You'll be in the middle of wilderness, in Rio Bravo Conservation area, where the only being you can date is a howler monkey. You'll be surrounded by pyramid ruins and tombs, without phone or Tv, only with a jeep to help you get even farther into the Mayan heritage. I preferred to sway on the hammock and listen to the tropical birds last year...
